Round 2 Testing

16th July 2019 0 By admin

Round two of testing at the University of Portsmouth.

This time I got an hour in a hot tub, but at 39 deg C it soon started to become a little uncomfortable.
It was necessary in order to raise my body temperature for the trial to see if heating the body can help improve its sensitivity to insulin and therefore lower blood sugar levels.

They wouldn’t turn the bubbles on, but to compromise they wheeled in a giant TV and I got to watch the cricket World Cup Final highlights that I missed on Sunday whilst being monitored post-heating. Win Win!!

As I have said before, all of this kind of research needs funding and that’s where the likes of Diabetes UK come in. Thanks to all the money generously donated by people through events and projects such as mine, this work can be continued to help find ways to combat diabetes.

If you would like to help too then please like and share my posts and you can also visit my Just Giving page on the link provided.

The University of Portsmouth are still recruiting volunteers to take part in this trial so if you are a type 2 diabetic or know someone who is and would like to take part then please contact Tom James at
